VSB Group launches 9MW solar plant in southern France

VSB Group has successfully commissioned the 9MWp Soleil de Balsac solar plant in southern France, utilizing a former clay and gravel extraction site for clean energy production. Located in Druelle Balsac in the Aveyron department, this ground-mounted solar project comprises 16,740 solar modules and is projected to generate approximately 10,550 MWh of electricity each year. This output is sufficient to power around 5,000 households.

The facility will also contribute to annual CO₂ savings estimated at over 2,500 tonnes. VSB Group’s CEO, Dr. Felix Grolman, emphasized the project’s role in repurposing unused land for the energy transition. VSB France’s managing director, Maël Lagarde, remarked on the project’s importance in enhancing the region’s energy supply.

This solar plant adds to VSB’s expanding solar portfolio, which includes the 19.3MWp Löberitz project in Germany and a 300MWp solar-plus-storage initiative in Poland. Additionally, VSB is planning a hybrid wind, solar, and storage park in Puutionsaari, Finland, further diversifying its renewable energy investments.
