Vodafone begins building 36,000m² green logistics hub in Luxembourg

Vodafone has commenced construction on a new 36,000 square meter logistics hub in Luxembourg, aimed at streamlining its European supply chain and reducing emissions. This initiative marks a pivotal shift in Vodafone’s logistics strategy, with the first structural column already installed. The facility is set to be operational by early 2026.

The logistics hub will be managed by Vodafone Procure & Connect, overseeing inventory and logistics across the continent. By centralizing operations in one location, Vodafone anticipates simplifying its warehouse management and improving collaboration with suppliers. This centralized approach is expected to enhance communication within the supply chain, allowing for better demand forecasting and quicker responses to market changes.

Digital tools are essential to this project, as Vodafone plans to implement advanced systems designed to simplify processes, improve delivery schedules, and increase visibility throughout its logistics operations. Ninian Wilson, Chief Executive of Vodafone Procure & Connect, emphasized that this development is a key indicator of progress in modernizing logistics. He stated, “Standardization, efficiency, and sustainability are at the heart of this initiative, ensuring a smarter and more agile supply chain for Vodafone and its customers across Europe.”

The hub will function not only as a storage facility but also as a strategic center for managing telecommunications products effectively and sustainably. Once completed, it aims to optimize stock management, inventory tracking, and partner services with reduced delays and a more efficient process.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of this project. Vodafone has partnered with MG Real Estate, an established firm known for its focus on energy-efficient construction. Together, they are working to achieve BREEAM Outstanding certification, which signifies exceptional sustainability standards in building practices. The project emphasizes low-emission infrastructure and energy efficiency from the outset, bolstering Vodafone’s commitment to minimizing environmental impact in its supply chain.

Ignace De Paepe, President of MG Real Estate, noted that this collaboration aims to set new benchmarks in both sustainability and innovation. He expressed pride in marking the milestone with the first column placement and looks forward to the hub’s completion in the coming months.

CFL Logistics, part of CFL Multimodal, will oversee the daily operations of the new hub, ensuring effective management of warehouse functions and inventory tracking tailored to Vodafone’s specifications. This partnership will facilitate digital integration in stock management, shipping processes, and supplier coordination.

Luxembourg’s strategic location in Europe and its commitment to sustainable logistics infrastructure make it an ideal site for this pan-European hub. Lex Delles, Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy, welcomed Vodafone’s investment, stating, “Vodafone’s decision to establish its pan-European logistics hub in Luxembourg reinforces our position as a sustainable and innovative logistics platform at the heart of Europe.” He highlighted the country’s ability to attract leading international investments and contribute to the green transformation of infrastructure.

Vodafone’s new logistics center is poised to serve as a model for modern supply chain operations in the telecommunications industry. By centralizing logistics, adopting advanced technologies, and integrating sustainability from the beginning, the hub sets a standard for others seeking to modernize their supply chains. As the 2026 launch date approaches, partners across Europe can expect improvements in delivery reliability, service quality, and environmental responsibility — all essential for adapting to the evolving demands of the telecommunications sector.
