GameChange Solar has secured a significant contract with CEEC-ZTPC to supply its Genius Tracker™ 1P Single Row system for the Abydos Solar PV Plant’s second phase in Egypt. This agreement involves a 1 GWac solar photovoltaic power plant combined with a 600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), marking it as one of Africa’s largest solar-plus-storage projects.
With this new contract, GameChange Solar’s supplied capacity in Egypt approaches 3 GW, reinforcing its status as a leading solar tracker provider in the region. The Abydos II project is aligned with Egypt’s goal to generate 42% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. Once operational, the facility will significantly enhance Egypt’s clean energy framework.
Located in Egypt’s Aswan Governorate, the Abydos II plant will cover an area of 20 square kilometers and is anticipated to generate around 3,000 GWh of clean electricity annually. This output can power more than 500,000 homes and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 1 million tonnes each year.
Vikas Bansal, President – International at GameChange Solar, expressed pride in continuing to partner with CEEC-ZTPC and support AMEA Power on this major energy initiative. Following the successful implementation of the first phase of the project, which operates at 560 MW, this new order reflects the strong collaboration established through reliable project execution.
GameChange Solar’s Genius Tracker™ system enhances energy yield while reducing installation time and increasing the reliability of solar projects. This technology will support Egypt in its transition to a cleaner energy future by enabling large-scale renewable energy initiatives. The Abydos II plant is scheduled to be commissioned in May 2026, representing a vital step in advancing sustainable development across Africa.
