RWE has marked a key construction phase for its new wind control center in Jemgum, East Friesland. The topping-out ceremony was recently held for this facility, which will enable RWE to monitor and operate its offshore wind farms in Germany and across Europe.
The control center is being constructed by Real Immobilien under a long-term lease agreement with RWE. The completion of the building is anticipated by autumn 2025, followed by the installation of technical equipment for the control room. RWE plans to have the center operational by spring 2026.
The two-story structure will cover approximately 1,120 square meters and will include modern office spaces, meeting rooms, and a control room. Initially, it will support around 50 RWE employees. This facility will oversee the operations of wind turbines, manage vessel movements, and monitor the electrical infrastructure, including offshore substations.
The establishment of this control center is part of RWE’s strategy to expand its offshore wind operations, reflecting the company’s commitment to increasing its renewable energy footprint in the region.
