President Prabowo Opens Jakarta Forum on Energy Security

On June 24, 2025, President Prabowo Subianto will inaugurate the 9th Jakarta Geopolitical Forum (JGF), focusing on energy security and economic fragmentation. This forum, organized by the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas), aims to foster discussions on enhancing Indonesia’s energy resilience amid global geopolitical uncertainties.

Ace Hasan Syadzily, Governor of Lemhannas, confirmed that President Prabowo will deliver both a directive and a keynote address during the event. The forum’s theme reflects President Prabowo’s mission to reinforce energy security—a critical issue as countries worldwide face volatility in energy markets.

Scheduled for two days, from June 24 to June 25, 2025, the JGF will gather around 1,000 participants, including policymakers, academics, and business leaders from countries such as Australia, Japan, and the United Kingdom. The agenda includes four thematic sessions addressing topics such as industrial downstream development and adaptive strategies for implementing renewable energy technologies.

A key focus will be on how Indonesia can enhance its energy resilience. As the global landscape shifts, discussions will center on practical solutions for integrating renewable energy sources while safeguarding economic stability. Participants will explore strategies to increase energy security at both regional and national levels, ensuring that Indonesia can effectively respond to external pressures, such as fluctuating oil prices and geopolitical tensions.

This forum not only provides a platform for dialogue but also aims to produce strategic recommendations that will assist the Indonesian government in formulating policies to strengthen the nation’s energy infrastructure. With energy resilience becoming increasingly vital in the face of global challenges, the outcomes of the Jakarta Forum could play a pivotal role in shaping Indonesia’s energy future.
