Scale Green Energy secures €8M for hydrogen stations in Spain

Scale Green Energy, the renewable energy division of Enagás, has secured over €8 million in funding from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). This investment will facilitate the deployment of six hydrogen refueling stations across Spain, strategically located along major transport routes in the Atlantic and Mediterranean corridors.

The initiative aligns with the European Union’s commitment to promote zero-emission transportation. The new hydrogen stations will provide fuel produced through electrolysis, utilizing 100% renewable energy to create green hydrogen. This infrastructure is designed to offer accessible clean fuel for various vehicles, including cars, trucks, and heavy-duty transport, promoting a transition towards cleaner mobility solutions.

Enagás is pursuing a larger vision for hydrogen infrastructure development in Spain, aiming to invest approximately €3.125 billion by 2030. This investment is part of a broader strategy to significantly reduce transport emissions and facilitate the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. By establishing these refueling stations, Spain positions itself as a key player in the European transition to sustainable energy.

This project underscores the growing importance of hydrogen as a clean energy source within the EU’s transportation framework, emphasizing the role of renewable energy in shaping a sustainable future.
